Renovation: from old farmhouse to Agri-Resort
Tenuta Valdorso Agri-Resort is situated in Montechiaro d’Acqui.
The estate now stands on the remains of an ancient farmstead that was going to be completely overtaken by the area’s natural vegetation.
The renovation process took around one and half years. The renovation process’ main feature was the use of avant-garde architectural techniques that have now re-modernized a once compromised structure.
Emiliano and Sara, the current owners of Tenuta Valdorso, participated in every decision-making step of the project.
Their strong desire to treat ecological and energy-efficiency aspects with great importance was the basis for every choice they’ve made.
The feather in their cap, for example, was the roof-installation of a 50KW / h photovoltaic system that allows the business to be almost totally energy self-sufficient.
The couple also independently managed the entire interior design project, choosing to give a modern and luxurious touch to every room.
In fact, many of the furnishings and accessories have been made by hand and made to measure by local and Milanese artisans.
Even for such things, environmental respect and sustainability was at the base of the choice in materials. The main example is the bamboo used instead of wood to create most of the floors in Tenuta Valdorso.
There are still numerous elements of continuity with the past that one can note: first of all, the name has remained the same as the one on the old farmhouse, which stands out on the farmstead’s façade as it used to in the past. Another example is the choice made to keep the original floorplan of the building, with large, vaulted windows that look out onto the outside world.
